A Contractor and a Facelift
The kitchen cabinets are a large component of kitchen remodeling costs. You can dramatically change the look of you kitchen and save on remodeling costs by refacing your cabinets instead of replacing them. Although a do-it-yourself job can be rewarding, it’s best to hire an experienced contractor to eliminate wasteful mistakes and major headaches. But how do you find a good cabinet refacing contractor?

The Contractor Search and Negotiation
Ask around and network with your friends and neighbors for a licensed, reputable referral. Get written estimates from at least three contractors. Get to know each contractor by asking them questions about the estimates. Envision the completed job including color schemes and material with the candidates prior to hiring.

Once you’ve chosen a reliable contractor, ensure that all contractual agreements are in writing and that a written home improvement contract is with the estimate. The home improvement contract should include:

The contractor’s name, phone number, and address

A detailed description of the cabinet refacing project

Cabinet refacing start and end dates

A statement that there will be no change of plans without your approval

A stipulation that the contractor will not violate building codes

And details of payment: down payment, monthly payments, number of payments, and total finance cost

The contractor’s signature and license number

Before you commit yourself to one contractor make sure that you educate yourself. Attempt to only pay a minimal down payment for materials and services. Before long, you’ll be reaping the benefits of a brand new kitchen with little sacrifice.

Remodeling and upgrading the bathrooms in your home are an excellent way to add value to your home. A bathroom makeover will improve the salability of your home more than any other home improvement project. Add attractive bathroom tile design elements and you will definitely have a winner.

One of the most popular means of home improvement upgrades is by adding tile. Replacing the once popular linoleum, tile offers longevity and easy maintenance as well as the ability to create a look that is unique. Bathroom tile design is essential when remodeling a small bathroom and can make the most of your finished results.

Small bathrooms appear uninviting and overcrowded. Many homeowners struggle as they attempt to turn a small guest bathroom into an attractive and inviting space. You can make a small bathroom appear much bigger and not so small while using the proper design and decorating techniques.

It is essential to consider two basic bathroom tile design elements while planning a small bathroom makeover. First the tile you choose for your bathroom should be a light color. Dark colors used for the walls, floor, or fixtures will make the room appear small and cramped. Choose tile colors that are as close to white as you can. Slight hints of color are fine if they are pale, pink, or tan, but the basic background color of the tile should be white.

Although, many homeowners doing a small bathroom makeover may think they can only use small one inch tiles in their bathroom, this is not always true. Using a bathroom tile design that is based around one inch tiles will make the room appear smaller, particularly if the design includes colored or dark tiles.

It may seem tempting to use a bathroom tile design of old fashioned black and white. But it is the wrong choice. Rather you should consider using a medium to large size of tiles in a small bathroom. You want to keep the tile design uncomplicated and simple.

This should be the goal in the entire bathroom makeover project. Keeping a small bathroom light in color and simple in design and d?r will make the room appear more spacious. Adding lighting fixtures that are limited in size but that produce plenty of light will reflect off a white tile floor and improve the looks of the area. You can add the feeling of outdoor lighting to your small bathroom with no window by replacing the old light bulbs with new energy efficient natural light bulbs.

The bathroom tile design that you choose for your bathroom will have a bigger impact on the room than you might imagine. Take your time to consider the space, the lighting, the walls, and cabinet options and bring it all together with a well chosen tile for the floor.

Many experts consider a small bathroom to be one of the hardest areas in a home to remodel. In case you are planning on doing a small bathroom remodeling project you will need to understand what it takes to keep cost of remodeling a small bathroom within manageable levels. The first challenge that you will face in regard to remodeling a small bathroom is deciding what exactly you want your bathroom to finally look like.

<b>

Determine Areas and Features That Require Improvement

To minimize cost of remodeling a small bathroom you need to first determine the areas as well as features that require improvements. There are however certain elements that must always be addressed including the sink shower and toilet, flooring, as well as mirrors and walls. The next important factor that you need to consider in order to keep cost of remodeling a small bathroom at manageable levels is the plumbing.

Though things like sink, shower and walls and mirrors will not affect how much space becomes available for use; they will nevertheless add elegance as well as value to your bathroom. For those people that live in large cities it will offer them many good opportunities to cost of remodeling a small bathroom by visiting various plumbing stores where they can get competitively priced bathroom fixtures as well as advice as to how to get the best out of your remodeling project.

Flooring is an essential remodeling factor and how much you do up the floors will affect the final cost of remodeling a small bathroom. In any case, with the right kind of flooring you will succeed in adding some lovely touches to your bathroom. Granite flooring is popular today though it will also add to the cost of remodeling a small bathroom.

When it concerns bathroom shower remodel work you will need to do plenty of planning before proceeding any further.

Next, you need to create a budget and then stick to your budget and you will also need to make plans regarding proper use of available space. It goes without saying that properly designed remodel projects stand the best chance of succeeding – without costing too much in the process.

Not surprisingly, redecorating your bathroom is a great way to improve the overall look and feel of your home. The challenge is when you have a small bathroom. While the options may appear to be limited, a little bit of creativity and imagination can go a long way towards having the bathroom of your dreams – even if it is not the size of the bathroom of your dreams.

When your bathroom decorating project involves a limited space to work in, replacing an old vanity with a small bathroom vanity can help you free up space while you are working. There are several small vanities available to choose from, but you need to keep several things in mind when you are remodeling. Here are some tips to use when remodeling a small bathroom.

Tip #1 – Utilize the storage space in your vanity.

Often we forget to do the obvious. If your bathroom is small you will want to utilize the space you have. A small bathroom vanity that includes a cabinet under the sink can be used as storage for small items. Using this space for soap, bathroom tissue, cleansers, lotions, and even fresh towels is a great way to utilize the space.

Tip # 2 – Use Mirrors.

If you have a large mirror in your bathroom you will find that it makes the room appear larger. If you have a small mirror above the vanity exchange it for a larger mirror to give the room a more open, larger appearance.

Tip # 3 – Choose a small bathroom vanity that fits in the corner.

If you choose a corner vanity you can free up more space in your room. This space isn’t an optical illusion as with the mirror, this is actual floor space. There are several styles available that you can choose from.

Tip # 4 – Use light colored paints for your bathroom walls.

Using light colored paint or wallpaper on the walls will help to open out the room and make it a bit bigger. The light paint also helps to give the room a brighter, happier look. Your small vanity should match your bathroom. You can purchase one that already matches or take the time to paint the vanity as well as the walls to match each other.

Tip # 5 – Pedestal type vanities take less space.

If you are still trying to use less space, and you aren’t set on having the cabinet under your sink, then you can use a pedestal type small bathroom vanity. This type of vanity doesn’t have storage space but it does open the floor space up quite a bit.

Making the most of the space in a small bathroom is important. You don’t have to have a difficult time remodeling, even if you have limited space to work with. If you measure your vanity and make sure if will fit before you get too far ahead of yourself you should be able to remodel your small bathroom, and vanities are an excellent place to start when you are redecorating.

I’ve worked on a number of older homes that have 2 foot wide doors going into their bathroom. Smaller people aren’t going to have problems with doors like these, but I once worked with a football player who needed to turn sideways just to get through a bathroom door that was actually 2′4″ wide. I couldn’t imagine what type of problems he would have had, if the door was 2 foot wide. This isn’t going to be a problem for some people, but could be a problem for larger people. If you’re planning on remodeling your bathroom or designing a new house, make sure that you install a 2′4″ wide bathroom door and eliminate possible problems in the future. How would you feel, if the only reason why you couldn’t sell your house, was because the homeowners couldn’t fit comfortably through the bathroom door. Bathroom remodeling door tips like these can make all of the difference in the world, especially if you know the reasons why. I hope you enjoyed this video on bathroom remodeling and learned some of the problems that you’re going to face in the future, as a remodeling contractor, do it yourself person or even a home repair professional.

One of the biggest mistakes homeowners make when remodeling a small bathroom is trying to cram in everything they’d like to put in a big bathroom. The second mistake is choosing fixtures, decorative items, and the like that are too bulky or too ornate. Choosing clean simple lines, without a lot of decoration, will make the space look larger.
One way to approach a small bathroom remodel, then, is to keep it simple. Sometimes less is more; and this is true of small bathrooms. If you are trying to create an elegant and luxurious bathroom don’t forget about understated elegance.

Starting with the big things, here are some tips to help you with your small bathroom remodel:
Choose only a compact shower stall or only a whirlpool or spa tub that is smaller and deeper (this will fit nicely in a corner). Even some of the tub designs now being advertised for seniors would work in a small bathroom.
Choose a pedestal sink or a wall mounted sink. This will leave more floor space and make the room feel bigger.
Choose the most compact toilet you can find. Choose a taller model over a shorter wider style.

Now for decorative items:

* Choose a mirror with no frame or a mirror with a small frame — this will make the room look bigger and the mirror will reflect light farther in the room.
* Cover an entire wall with a mirror — this will create the appearance of a much larger space.
* Use fewer wall-mounted towel rods or rings — choose a ring beside the sink to save space.
* Store extra linens nearby, but put out only a minimum at any one time.
* Place light fixtures where they will reflect light throughout the room.
* If you don’t have a window, consider installing a tube light to bring in sunlight.
* Find creative ways to add storage in walls.

Decorating ideas:

* Choose lighter and brighter colors.
* Use glass block windows or frosted windows instead of curtains — it will make the room look larger.
* Use wallpaper or paint design that draws the eye upward to make the room appear larger — either vertical stripes, vertical designs, or a border at the top of the wall.
* Use small shelves above and under sinks, toilets, etc. to provide storage and decoration.
* Keep color combinations minimalist — no more than two colors.
* Avoid clutter — don’t set decorative items around that are not necessary.
* Add luxuries in ways that do not use more of your space (massaging shower heads, spa tub, radiant floor heating, fogless mirrors, heated towel rods, fragrances, etc.)

In small spaces, simplicity is generally best if you want to create a feeling of spaciousness and elegance. Clean simple lines, lots of light, no clutter, and an eye to the necessary will help you create a very comfortable and luxurious small bathroom remodel.

Give your kitchen a fresh, new look with a makeover for your older cabinets. If you’re happy with your existing cabinet layout, and the cabinets are still in good condition, then cabinet refacing is a smart alternative to replacing them. You’ll enjoy beauty and style, easy care and lo maintenance with kitchen cabinet refacing.

Somewhat new in the kitchen remodeling industry… kitchen cabinets refacing has become a popular alternative for homeowners.

Kitchen cabinet refacing can save you anywhere from 33-60% off the cost of installing new kitchen cabinets. This economical alterative gives you the new design you want for your kitchen, without breaking the bank. In addition to saving money, you can improve their functionality with roll-out shelves, better drawer slides, and other accessories.

Why put new cabinets faces on old cabinets?

Often, the quality cabinets that exist in vintage homes are sturdier than many new cabinet designs on the market today. Choosing to replace solid wood cabinets, instead of refacing kitchen cabinets, can leave a customer dissatisfied and frustrated with service calls and poor quality service.

With refacing services provided by many companies through the US, it’s a wonderful alternative that many customers are looking to.

“Not only was it cheaper, but I didn’t have to wait 2 months for them to get the cabinets in before they could start the work. The refacing company was in and out in just a few days. I am very pleased with the results”, Said Angela Lamerson.

Before investing into a major refacing job, do your homework.

In some cases, refacing is the not best option. If the cabinet boxes are un-sturdy or made of poor materials, you’ll be wasting both your time and your money. When talking with a refacing company, be sure they examine the original cabinet box and can validate that it is sturdy enough to hold up for the job.

Happy Remodeling!

When you have a home, whether you have purchased it or you are renting, chances are good that you are spending a lot of time in your kitchen. Also, unless you have built the house yourself and have exactly what you want, you have probably complained that your kitchen does not have enough storage. This is a problem that many people have because they simply can’t seem to keep their kitchen in order.

When you are fighting for storage space it can become more difficult to make dinner, entertain guests, or simply have a place to sit down and relax. Your kitchen should be a place for you to do more than just eat dinner. If it is not, you should really take some time to see what you can do to better equip your kitchen for the long haul. Finding great storage solutions for keeping your kitchen in order is going to be an accomplishment that you will feel proud of.

There are several different types of storage solutions that you can think about when you are looking to keep your kitchen in order. Something that you should remember is that your kitchen is going to be disorganized on several levels. First of all, you’ll have the things that you use to prepare food, the actual food, the condiments, the cooking spices and oils. And that is just the beginning. Second, you will have your dishes, utensils, glasses, and coffee mugs that you use on a daily basis. All these things need to be organized as well. And there are always things in your kitchen that just do not belong there, but you may think that they do not have anywhere else to go. These miscellaneous items are one of the biggest factors in how clutter makes its way into your life, or you kitchen for that matter. If you can create a place for everything, then your kitchen, and your home, will be much more organized.

You are going to want to focus on how you can organize the food items that you have. Your refrigerator can be cleaned out, and you can use several different organizational products. You can try Lazy-Susan turners and plastic bins to organize your refrigerator and keep it organized. Chances are you will have to delve into those food pantries, and do the same thing. Keeping like items together, for instance, all of the soups on one set of shelves and the vegetables on the other will add to your ability to stay organized. You also might want to look into purchasing a nice spice rack, preferably one that you can mount to the wall so it will be out of the way. Another nice component you might want to think about would be some extra shelving or drawers for things like cooking oils and other condiments that you use on a daily basis. Items such as these should be organized and stored close to where they are most often used. You should try to have a drawer or shelf within reach of the stove or counter top for easy access.

A major clutter problem comes from the organization of your dishes and cooking utensils. In order to make room for your pots and pans you can always hang them from your ceiling. Not only is this a different look for your kitchen, but it is quite a space saver. If you hang your pots and pans above your stove, not only are they out of the way but they are within reach. You can have your dishes stored in cupboards, which will allow them to be used easily and quickly. It is always nice to have your utensils nearby as well. Getting a utensil cup is something that can go a long way for the organization of your kitchen.

Your counter is probably going to be full of different appliances. A toaster, waffle maker, coffee maker and other appliances need to be organized. Chances are you don’t use your waffle maker every day, so go ahead and find somewhere to store it when it’s not being used. Installing lower cabinets with plug-in adaptors build into them allows you to have access to those things, as well as to be able to hide them away when you aren’t using them.

You should also begin to think about the things that are stored in your kitchen that might not belong there. Things like piles of mail, homework, and other items often find their way into the kitchen. This is not the best way to help you stay organized. Adding a bin for the mail, or even individual mail boxes on the wall, can be a great way to help clear up the mail problem. A bin for car keys or other items will also help lessen the clutter and help you enjoy a more organized kitchen.

If you have tried to locate a piece of paper out of place for hours and have not been successful or if they have traced the location stack of files a single document and frustrated, this article is for you.

The most common mistake for misplacing an object that is falling into a place that is convenient at the time. A regular space keeping important objects and documents that makes it easy for anyone to look when the need to remember that occurs.

This is why archivists are special tools for safe keeping when used regularly is the best way to track documents and important objects, not only at work but also at home. A good filing system can save hours or even money, without which otherwise would have been frustrating.

Filing cabinets are constant accessories in any workplace that requires the custody and track documents that despite the increase in electronic data-keeping systems. The choice of one more is needed to decide on the number of drawers. There are subtle differences in filing cabinets to suit particular requirements.

The two main types of filing cabinets

The vertical file cabinet is the traditional kind, where you can have two to five drawers. The drawers are designed to fit legal-size files and stored toward the front of the drawers. Vertical file cabinets are space savers that make them the preferred choice in the offices where the rents are a luxury.

The other option, though not as commonly used are the lateral file cabinet type. These file types are much larger container than standard designs. The files can be stored side to side or front to back. The design is not as deep as vertical cabinets can also be used as a partition wall or a wall divider. The lateral file cabinets have more versatility in terms of file storage space and takes up less wall.

The quality of the file cabinet is also an area that should be given good care. The best way to examine the quality of the file cabinet is the suspension system. A good filing cabinet has strong suspensions that can carry weight and can still open and close smoothly. Some archivists have been built in security features that allow only one drawer open at a time. Normally security feature includes counterweights or internal fixation devices. File Cabinets without this feature can be accidentally knocked over when all the drawers at the top are open.

Good records have to be built to take some abuse. It is therefore important that the archivists and be of thicker metal to protect internal components that prevent damage easily.

Because of the valuable materials that could be stored in a file cabinet, many are made to be fire and impact resistant. Fire resistant cabinet can maintain the temperature within less than 350 degrees (most paper burns up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit) sufficient to prevent the burning of its contents even when the outside temperature rises to 1700 degrees.

File cabinets in terms of function, design, material, number of drawers are priced from $ 20 to around $ 1,800 dollars for the top of the line choice.

File Cabinets today also come in designs and colors that are veering away from traditional types. Cabinets newer file can no longer be the kinds of ugly steel cabinets. They can come in a variety of decorative colors, materials and designs that can be mixed with your furniture.

Perhaps now you are confusing in terms of decision-making, renovate or move. If so, take a minute of your time to read an article that might help you in making decisions to move or relocate.

Inevitably, most homeowners are forced to ask this question at some point in time. The decision to sell his house and leave, or stay at home and remodeling can be very tough indeed. Many factors certainly influence whether you move or if you stay and remodel your home.

Move or remodel?

Location, location, location. Usually it is the mantra of real estate agents, but it applies here too. Where is your home is often the most important factor, because a project of home improvement will never change the location of your home. You may be required to make a move due to external forces beyond your control, such as:

- You may not like the quality of their local school system.
- You might not have many choices to shop local or lifestyle choices.
- The size of your current lot or piece of land can not afford an increase in the size or expansion.
- A neighborhood association can prevent additions or extensions, and changing the appearance of the area or subdivision.
- Restrictions or zoning laws in your city would prevent any changes.
- Your subdivision may only have identical housing plans ( “cookie-cutter houses”) and adding a second floor or the addition of origin may make it less valuable than others in the neighborhood.
- It may cost too much to renovate.

Because you can not change these factors, you and your family may find that moving to a new location is absolutely necessary. Take a look at your Home location and decide if it fits your needs, whether it can improve, whether or not it is too old, and if they can not cope with the stress of a remodeling project.

Too Much of a Good Thing?

Another factor in his removal or replacement of “the decision could be that your house is already the best in the area. An extensive renovation or improvement of the best house in the neighborhood might be fine if you’re planning on living there for a very long period of time. However, if you plan to sell in the future, such a renewal would prevent him from obtaining an adequate return on investment. If your house is already the best, spending more on that will not make the value even higher.

If you have started a home improvement project recently, you understand that the process of redoing your residence can be a very expensive proposition. As a result, you likely are looking for ways through which you can save some money on the overall costs of your particular project. To this end, you would be well served if you could trim expenses associated with the purchase of those tools that you do need for your particular home improvement project.

One method that you might want to utilize for trimming the cost associated with the tools you need for your home improvement project is to purchase refurbished tools for your home improvement endeavor. You may be wondering what, exactly, are refurbished tools. In simple terms, refurbished tools are those that have had a previous owner. Once that owner has finished with one or another of these refurbished tools, they are sold to a business that specializes in refurbishing — tuning up and “remodeling,” if you will — previously used home improvement tools and pieces of equipment. Thus, these tools end up in better shape than they were in when the original owner parted with the items.

There are some definite benefits to buying and using refurbished tools. First and foremost, these items tend to be significantly cheaper than similar items purchased new. Indeed, you can save a significant amount of money by purchasing refurbished rather than new tools for your particular home improvement project.

In addition to being less expensive than new products, refurbished tools normally are in very decent shape and condition. While not new per se, these tools tend to be as close to new as is possible when it comes to previously owned and utilized products.

If you are interested in finding and buying refurbished tools for your own home improvement project, the Internet is a solid starting point for your search. By surfing around the Net, you should be able to find a decent selection of different opportunities through which you can make the purchase of refurbished tools.

There are also a wide array of different stores in the brick and mortar world that feature refurbished tools within their inventories. In short, there are many options available to you when it comes to resources for refurbished tools.
